PETROLIAM Nasional Bhd (Petronas) will be taking the lead in rallying industry players to elevate project management standards by hosting the inaugural International Project Management Conference (IPMC) 2020 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) from Nov 30 to Dec 2, 2020.
The conference which will be held biennially aims to share cross-industry best practices, lessons learnt, cutting edge technologies, processes and tools in line with its theme “Beyond Projects — Embracing the New Era”, in response to the wave of global digital transformation and the need to upskill project management teams with the necessary technical knowledge and capabilities to deliver better project value.
As prolonged volatility in oil prices and challenging market conditions continue to affect the future of the oil and gas (O&G) industry, IPMC 2020 is established as a platform to explore how the project management fraternity can address challenges and drive industry competitiveness both locally and globally.
IPMC 2020 chairman and Petronas VP of group project delivery, project delivery and technology Noor Ilias Mohd Idris (picture) said: “Technological, social and market evolutions that are currently changing the world have also begun to transform all aspects of project management. Therefore, we must collectively step up and seek opportunities to improve the way project management operates to deliver projects more effectively and successfully.”
IPMC 2020 is held in partnership with KLCC Projeks Sdn Bhd and MISC Bhd and in collaboration with project management professional bodies — including Project Management Institute, International Project Management Association, Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering International Region 8, and Malaysia Joint Branch (Southern Chapter) of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects and the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology.
IPMC 2020 is expected to be attended by more than 1,000 local and international delegates from O&G, new energy, building and infrastructure, maritime and shipping, and the digital sector.
The conference will address pertinent issues and deliberate on current challenges and solutions on topics surrounding leadership and human capital; project health, safety, security and environment, and quality; project contract and commercial; project control and monitoring; project stakeholder and risk management; general project management; and project engineering.
In addition to conference dialogues, IPMC 2020 will also provide a lively exhibition marketplace, a technical visit and numerous networking opportunities to offer participants a comprehensive and enriching experience.
