THE Christmas season would always be associated with sweet memories of joy, laughter, and yes, good wholesome food.
At the New World Petaling Jaya (PJ) Hotel, guests can be assured that there will be something for everyone with its series of festive specials over the Christmas period.
GM Jai Kishan said he is looking forward to seeing guests enjoying the classical Christmas themes the hotel has prepared.
“Christmas is truly a wonderful time and we do not want to change too much of the age-old traditions, so we are keeping it traditional this time around with a green, red and gold coloured theme,” he said to The Malaysian Reserve recently.
Pasar Baru Offerings
Dining for the season will begin on Dec 24, 2019, with a Christmas Eve and Christmas Day buffet dinner at New World PJ’s all-day dining restaurant, Pasar Baru — a popular outlet that serves local specialty dishes.
Its open kitchen spaces will be serving up a hearty feast of Christmas dishes and regional items during the eve.
Celebrated Christmas dishes will include a traditional roasted turkey with homemade cranberry sauce and all the trimmings one can imagine, as well as pates, casseroles and salmon.
There will be two live carving stations, where guests can taste both the roasted turkey and leg of lamb, accompanied with cranberry, giblet, rosemary and mint sauce.
Local flavours will also be present on that day, especially its famous curry laksa, as well as Malay, Chinese and Indian dishes.
Jai said a variety of specialty decorated and flavoured desserts will be served up in line with the Christmas theme.
Both offerings will be priced at RM148 nett per person. For those looking for something lighter, the restaurant will also offer a Christmas Day Hi-Tea Buffet on Dec 25, 2019.
Guests will have the opportunity to taste a selection of sushi and maki, marinated salads, soups, dim sum with condiments, a specialty turkey rice and plenty of Christmas deserts. Dining will be from 12pm to 4pm, priced at RM98.
On Dec 31, 2019, Pasar Baru will feature a New Year’s Eve buffet dinner from 6.30pm to 10.30pm, priced at RM148 nett.
For the New Year, there will be two options for guests, a Hi-Tea buffet from 12pm to 4pm or a buffet dinner from 6.30pm to 10.30pm, priced at RM98 and RM148 respectively.
PJ’s Bar & Grill
This outlet, famous for its skyline views, features alfresco dining and is now also considered the largest rooftop bar in PJ.
Perfectly positioned for a 360-degree view of the city atop the 30th floor, the restaurant has definitely been a favourite hotspot for those within the Klang Valley.
The bar will have a Christmas Eve and Christmas Day dinner at 7pm, and guests can choose to enjoy a four-course set menu with wine pairing for RM268 or RM168 without the wine.
A delectable menu without the wine pairing will be prepared by the chef on that day which consists of langoustine, chestnut risotto, christmas turkey, angus grain tenderloin and a deconstructed ginger bread for dessert.
Leveraging on its amazing views and firework anticipation, the outlet will host a New Year countdown party from 7pm onwards with an entry fee of RM88.
Jai said there will be live music from a DJ, special deals for drinks and a free glass of sparkling wine.
Guests will also be able to bring some of the holiday cheers home with them, by purchasing the hotel’s special Take-Home Gourmet Treats which will include succulent roasts, handcrafted log cakes, fruitcakes and a medley of Christmas cookies.
