Where everything is a hop, skip and a jump away

WITH real estate, it’s all about location, location, location. And yes, it is also true what people say about paying unequivocal amounts for a good view, or an upmarket suburb these days.

Take Mont Kiara for instance, a township northwest of Kuala Lumpur (KL) city centre that has gone from a rubber plantation estate to an established, well-equipped and exclusive part of the capital.

Designed specifically to facilitate everyday living, the rooms are comfortable and spacious

While looking across an assemblage of high-rise buildings in the suburb, one not to be missed is the Hyatt House, an extended stay hotel (ESH) that focuses on creating experiences akin to a home, while maintaining the top-class services of a hotel.

Managed by American-based hospitality brand Hyatt Hotels Corp, Hyatt House is the first of its kind in Malaysia, South-East Asia and the largest in the world so far with 298 rooms.

Its GM Bennett Peter recently told The Malaysian Reserve (TMR) that Malaysia was chosen for this purpose because of its huge potential not only in the hospitality industry, but on overall connectivity system as well.

“Malaysia actually sits at the crossroads of Asia and has fantastic potential with a vibrant workforce and English widely spoken, I truly believe it is a blessed country,” he said.

The building that began its construction in 2013 was completed last year, opening its doors on Dec 1, 2018.

In lieu of having the convenience of everything you need in one area, Hyatt House sits metres away from mixed development properties like Arcoris Mont Kiara, retail mall Kiara 163 and shopping complex 1Mont Kiara.

Peter said while the hotel’s main targets are business travellers, he sees a variety of leisure travellers and families as well.

Mont Kiara, a popular neighbourhood for families with plenty to do both for the young and young at heart

“About 10% to 15% of our guests are long-term residents, but we do get guests on business or family visits that stay a few days.

“The rooms are all spacious, apartment-style living that comes with amenities to help guests keep their routines going,” he said.

Each room comes with a kitchen suite that has a refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave and cooking appliances, while the hotel has a 24-hour gym, rooftop pool and game room.

“Hyatt House also has the tallest rooftop bar in the area, Ten37, which offers guests a panoramic view of the city skyline and lush green hills,” Peter said.

While Hyatt House provides free breakfast every morning for all registered guests and has an in-house dining restaurant, Peter said he has never hesitated to recommend outside eateries to his guests.

“I’m sometimes asked why we don’t have more restaurants inside but take a look outside, we have about 10 different restaurants at our very doorstep,” he said.

And Peter is right, with some excellent dining options in a melting pot of local and international cuisines, one would be hard-pressed for decisions.

Hyatt House sits in a prime location, a great choice for many working expatriates and locals

Among the popular eateries in the area are The Majapahit, Mercat Gastrobar, Madam Kwan’s, The Social, Menya Kamikaze, Kumar’s and an additional abundant of choices.

Expatriates are especially a common sight in this suburb, not surprising since the area also offers excellent dining options, bars and breweries, fitness centres and supermarkets.

Peter said the suburb has its own unique characteristics that may not be visible in other areas around KL.

“Mont Kiara is actually a lovely neighbourhood, you can see mothers pushing prams along the sidewalks while walking their dogs. It’s a very safe area with plenty of things to do.

“There are numerous top-notch international schools in the area like Mont Kiara International School, Garden International School and Lycee Francois de Kuala Lumpur,” Peter said.

He added that Mont Kiara is also surrounded by major highways which makes travelling in and out, as well as to surroun- ding areas very convenient. It is also some 20 minutes away from the city area.

“Hyatt House has positioned itself in a space where all your needs can be met, the prime location combined with our world-class service is something everyone should experience,” Peter said.
