Sarawak PKR head Baru Bian has refuted claims that he had lost the support from the party’s grassroots, including the head divisions and members of parliament.
In a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today, Baru said he has the support from 32 out of 46 elected states committee members (MPN).
“The 32 MPN members consist of four member of parliaments (MPs), three states assemblymen, 17 Divisional Heads, five Deputy Divisional Heads and nine State party leaders.
“Only 11 Divisional Heads, two of whom are MPs and two Youth leaders are not in agreement with our consensus,” he said .
Baru said this in response to a claim made by Selangau PKR chief Joshua Jabeng yesterday, who said he has the support from 18 Sarawak PKR leaders to oust the former as the party’s state chief.
Joshua said the division heads want PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to take charge of the position.
Baru said he believes the motion to replace him would be brought in the PKR convention in Miri slated this weekend, where PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to attend as the guest of honour.
However, Baru who led the MPN has announced the plan to cancel the convention, which widened the rift within state party members.
