THE Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) recently announced that home appliance brand, Cuckoo International (M) Sdn Bhd, will be its latest sponsor for the 2020 season which will be kicking off soon.
Cuckoo Malaysia came on board from Nov 1 to Dec 31 this year, as the official water purifier and air purifier supplier for the national team, Harimau Malaya, and also FAM.
Besides, Cuckoo Malaysia will also be the main sponsor for Piala Cuckoo Malaysia 2020 (Cuckoo Malaysia Futsal Cup 2020), a futsal competition which will be introduced for the first time in the
second season of the Malaysian Premier Futsal League (MPFL) 2020. The futsal competition will be aired on Astro next year, a stepping stone for both parties in the local sports industry.
The signing ceremony was held at Wisma FAM in Kelana Jaya, Selangor, and the agreement was signed by FAM secretary general Stuart Ramalingam and Cuckoo Malaysia CEO KC Hoe and witnessed by FAM VP Datuk Rosmadi Ismail and Cuckoo CMO Queenie Goh.
Rosmadi, who is also the chairman of the Bola Sepak Pantai FAM, said in a statement: “This is a very exciting achievement as the leading home appliance brand from South Korea is now officially a FAM partner, with the same vision to develop the futsal and football industry in Malaysia.
“We are grateful to Cuckoo Malaysia for being the main sponsor of the Cuckoo Malaysia Futsal Cup 2020. We believe that its name will be marked in the history of national futsal and football for sponsoring the first edition of the professional futsal national cup in Malaysia.”
Meanwhile, Hoe said since the establishment of Cuckoo in 2014, one of its goals has always been to give back to its customers.
“This includes our effort in developing corporate social responsibility projects, such as our World Water Day campaign ‘Just 1 Cup’. Earlier this year, we collaborated with Pahang Rangers FC through their journey in the MPFL.
“Thus, we are immensely proud to have this opportunity to work together with FAM and we believe that this collaboration will be an initiative to develop the local sports industry. Cuckoo Malaysia also wishes to help in the cultivation of local talents, as well as increase the availability of new talents,” he said.
With the presence of Cuckoo Malaysia in the FAM family, 80 units of water purifiers and air purifiers will be placed at Wisma FAM — including offices, cafeteria and players’ dorm rooms to promote a healthier environment at the national football administration centre. The collaboration is also envisioned for national athletes and the Harimau Malaya team to live in a healthier home with Cuckoo.
