Sabah Masters back after 3-year hiatus


A LINE-UP of 144 golfers including from Malaysia will feature in the Sabah Masters at the Sutera Harbour Golf and Country Club from Nov 21-24.

The popular tournament in the Asean region in the 1990s is making a return after a threeyear hiatus under the Asian Tour calendar this year and will be organised by Arus Erajaya Sdn Bhd and sanctioned by the Asian Tour and Professional Golf of Malaysia (PGM).

Malaysian renowned professional golfers such as Ben Leong, alongside with the top 25 players from PGM, will be joining the competition which offers a total prize purse of US$300,000 (RM1.23 million).

Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Christina Liew (picture) told a media conference yesterday that the meet would serve as the best platform to promote Malaysia’s extensive tourism offerings and introduce Sabah’s new and upcoming tourist attractions, especially to the international golfing community.

Meanwhile, Tourism Malaysia, in a media statement noted that for the Visit Malaysia 2020, Malaysia will host several major golf events such as the Asia Golf Tourism Convention from March 31 to April 3 next year and the 2020 Maybank Championship.
