TM ONE and UMW Corp Sdn Bhd signed a memorandum of intent (MoI) for the development of digital solutions yesterday to enhance and empower Industrial Revolution 4.0 requirements for industries in Malaysia.
TM ONE is the business solutions arm of Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM), while UMW Corp is wholly owned by UMW Holdings Bhd.
In a joint statement yesterday, TM and UMW Corp said through the partnership, they would embark on joint research activities to enable the deve- lopment of a home-grown industrial IoT (Internet of Things) platform via the integration of UMW’s IoT solution on industrial machines with TM ONE’s IoT software platform.
Commenting on the partnership, UMW Holdings president and group CEO Badrul Feisal Abdul Rahim said by leveraging on each firm’s expertise in IoT, they would be able to provide innovative products and services to customers.
Meanwhile, TM group CEO Datuk Noor Kamarul Anuar Nuruddin believed the partnership would help address the pain points and empower industry players to optimise their efficiency.
Under the MoI, UMW and TM ONE will co-develop an IoT-based digital solutions using the respective expertise of the partners, with UMW in mechanical machines, IoT sensors and control systems, while TM ONE has its IoT software and analytics.
“These solutions will be made accessible via the platform’s dashboard for UMW’s IoT-enabled equipment and machineries such as gene- rators, compressors, pumps and turbines, which will benefit multiple industries such as energy and utilities, transportation, real estate, commercial and public sectors,” said the statement.
It said the eventual combined UMW-TM IoT solution would provide remote access to machines through a real-time monitoring and management system, as well as optimise asset management, including fleet management, energy management, utilisation and disaster management. — Bernama
