SELANGOR International Business Summit 2019 (SIBS) was launched by the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj.
SIBS, organised by Invest Selangor Bhd under the patronage of Selangor state government, returns for the third edition this year.
SIBS 2019, an international event bringing together global brands and congregating industry players from the region, has attracted a series of high-profile official sponsors, strategic partners, local and international media partners, highlighting the event’s relevance to the local and Asean economy.
Selangor Mentri Besar Amirudin Shari said: “This year’s SIBS will also be an opportunity for investors, both local and foreign, to meet with like-minded multinational companies and small and medium enterprises to explore the vast opportunities offered.
“Selangor is the golden state of Malaysia, a regional economic powerhouse and has contributed nearly a quarter of Malaysia’s GDP in the past three years. Our story is built on hard work and smart work, bringing job-creating investment to Selangor.
“It has been our aspiration to create bigger and better SIBS with each passing year. This is because it means we are getting better at creating a more vibrant business platform for all. I am happy to report that this has become a reality.”
Selangor executive councillor for investment, industry and commerce and transportation Datuk Teng Chang Khim said: “This year, SIBS is a bigger event which is held across a total of 43,000 sq m, with 800 booths and anticipating 30,000 domestic and international visitors.”
With the total number of participating countries increased to 24 — from Thailand, Singapore, Taiwan, Indonesia, Cambodia, India, Vietnam, Japan, China, Bangladesh, Brunei, the Philippines, Hong Kong, South Korea, Kuwait, Macau, Myanmar, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Australia, Nigeria and the US — SIBS has expanded its range of offerings with a bigger market audience.
