Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 series unveiled, available from RM599

XIAOMI Malaysia officially launched the Redmi Note 8 series in Malaysia yesterday, following the mid-range device’s debut in China.

The Redmi Note 8 phone with a 48MP ultra high-resolution quad camera setup is priced from RM599, while the Redmi Note 8 Pro which features the country’s first 64MP quad camera is available at a starting price of RM1,099.

Xiaomi Malaysia and Singapore country manager Allen An said Malaysia is the first overseas market to launch the Redmi Note 8 series after China.

“Malaysia is one of our key markets in South-East Asia which we entered in 2014. We believe that Malaysia has a very big potential where Xiaomi can do well in terms of introducing smartphones and other gadgets.

“I also believe that the future of technology is photography and gaming. That is why Redmi Note 8 Pro is equipped with Malaysia’s first 64MP quad camera, where users can directly print out their high-quality photos without any touch-ups,” he told The Malaysian Reserve after the launch in Kuala Lumpur.

He added that the Redmi Note 8 Pro is built with a MediaTek Helio G90T processor, designed specifically for gamers.

“The Note 8 series are renowned the world over for its high-quality flagship features with honest pricing.

“This has been in our DNA from Day 1, as we believe that everyone regardless of their background deserves to enjoy the latest techno- logy,” he said.

Among the other features of the Redmi Note 8 is the 6.3-inch Gorilla glass display, 4000mAh high-capacity battery with USB Type-C 18W fast charge and Snapdragon 665 AIE processor.

For the Redmi Note 8 Pro, the device sports a 6.53-inch display with a 4500mAh battery and 18W fast charge support, and LiquidCool technology for a high-quality gaming experience.

According to Xiaomi, the previous model of Redmi Note 7 was sold out with over 100,000 units purchased within three months.

“We believe that the Note 8 series will surpass our previous achievements and it will be an important milestone for the Malaysian market.

“We also hope that the Redmi Note 8 series will give Malaysians more options in Xiaomi smartphones as it comes with many different colours and storages,” he said.

Along with the Note 8 series, Xiaomi also launched three brand- new audio products namely the Mi True Wireless Earbuds, Mi True Wireless Earbuds Basic and the Mi True Wireless Earphones.

All the audio devices are designed to complement the new Redmi Note 8 series.
