CUSTOMERS can now book the all-new Toyota Corolla at any Toyota authorised showroom nationwide starting yesterday.
UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd (UMWT), the official local distributor of Toyota vehicles, announced that the new sedan will be launched in Malaysia soon — in two variants of the all-new Corolla Altis 1.8G and 1.8E.
The estimated prices of the variants are RM136,888 and RM128,888 on-the-road respectively.
In a statement yesterday, the company said the vehicle has been completely redesigned and re-engineered using the TNGA — Toyota’s new global architecture — which has better performance and superior driving dynamics and comfort to meet today’s customers’ expectations.
The all-new Corolla gets the latest Toyota Safety Sense, an integrated safety system which provides a safer driving experience and other sophisticated features.
The Corolla nameplate is considered as the best-selling car in the world and is among the first cars to be assembled in Malaysia about 50 years ago.
UMW Toyota sold 31,251 Toyota vehicles in the first six months of 2019, a slight drop from 31,709 units delivered in the same period last year.
This month, the carmaker will also launch the first GR sports car in Malaysia, the Toyota GR Supra.
The GR Supra made its global debut at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show in January after a 17-year hiatus since the production of the previous generation in 2002.
Deputy chairman Akio Takeyama told The Malaysian Reserve in a recent interview that the company has also planned to open the first GR Garage outside of Japan soon to attract new and younger customers in Malaysia via the carmaker’s sports brand.
Five GR Garages in the central, north and south parts of Peninsular Malaysia are expected to be rolled out by next year.
