THE government has agreed to extend the deadline for Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) certification incentive application to Dec 31, 2019, said Primary Industries Minister Teresa Kok (picture).
The programme was initially scheduled to end on June 30, 2019.
The minister said the government has also agreed to increase the incentive rate for MSPO auditing cost to 100% from 70% currently, as well as provide new incentives for MSPO preparation cost of 50% for estates between 40.46ha and 1,000ha in size.
“The incentives for organised smallholders will also be increased to RM55 per ha from RM10 per ha,” she said during a briefing on MSPO for plantations in Negri Sembilan yesterday.
Kok said as of June 30, a total of 2.45 million ha or 42% of 5.85 million ha oil palm areas in the country had obtained MSPO, while for Negri Sembilan, about 104,000ha or 56% of 187,000ha of oil palm planted areas had been MSPO certified.
