MALAYSIA Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) has contributed learning aid to SK Salak’s Special Education Integration Programme (PPKI) as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative to help improve the learning environment for students with special needs.

A donation of RM11,000 was also channelled to assist the school to acquire appropriate learning aid, as well as to be used for the creation of a comfortable, attractive and conducive environment that could uplift the spirit of learning among the students.

MAHB corporate communications GM Nik Anis Nik Zakaria said the company’s CSR initiative is in line with its goal of providing quality education opportunities to all students. “We are impressed with the efforts by SK Salak to provide a comprehensive education for these special students.

“We hope that the equipment will benefit the PPKI students in this school, help them improve their studies and self-management skills, as well as uplift their spirit to continue learning,” she said in a statement recently.

The equipment includes personal care products and information and communication technology, kitchen, gardening and therapy tools.

Nik Anis also said MAHB supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, which include quality learning opportunities for all children.

Meanwhile, SK Salak headmaster Ishak Noh said the school welcomes such assistance from any quarters to improve the quality of learning among the special needs students.

“We would like to thank MAHB for their concern over the needs of its communities. We are touched by the effort and will strive towards helping the students to move forward, particularly in learning and self-management,” he said.

SK Salak has a total of 17 students with special needs, including those under the learning disability category, with four dedicated teachers.

Apart from its focus on academics, the school also provides living skills education, including the development of motor skills.

SK Salak has been involved in several CSR programmes under MAHB since 2017 and selected to participate in a football clinic programme along with three other schools in the Sepang district.
