The Inland Revenue Board (IRB) has received a total of 3.339 million of income tax return forms (BNCP) for the assessment year of 2018 to date, an increase by 11 per cent compared with 3.017 million for the same period last year.
IRB chief executive officer Datuk Seri Sabin Samitah said of the total, about 284,000 were Form B, accepted from individual taxpayers with business incomes.
“The number represented an increase by almost 17 per cent compared with the same period last year, which was around 243,000,” he said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, Sabin said the first phase of the Special Voluntary Declaration Programme (SVDP) with penalty rate of 10 per cent had been extended to June 30 while the second phase with a penalty rate of 15 per cent would begin on July 1 to Sept 30, 2019.
“IRB would like to reiterate our commitment that we will accept every voluntary declaration in good faith and there will be no further review on the declaration,” he said.
