The objective of the JGTA is to promote Johor as a golf tourism destination for the domestic and international markets, and a forum for its members to discuss ways to advance the golf travel industry
Colonel Mohammed Jamal Salleh (picture) heads the Johor Golf Tourism Association (JGTA) as president since its inception in 2016 and is ably supported by an Executive Committee of eight members.
The objective of the organisation is to promote Johor as a golf tourism destination for the domestic and international markets, while providing a forum for its members to discuss ways to advance the golf travel industry. The association actively promotes the state’s excellent golf courses, hotels, services and infrastructure through various efforts, such as the dissemination of information and participation in trade shows.
It is an independent, professional, member-based association, providing support to all golf fraternities promoting Johor as the ultimate golf destination.
Established in early 2016, it is a non-profit organisation, fully endorsed by industry players, as well as the state. Their mission is to promote golf tourism and the unique experience waiting in Johor, and in doing so, generate sustainable growth, not only in golf tourism, but also the state’s entire tourism industry.
JGTA has the collaborative power to speak as one voice to official tourism and golf bodies on behalf of all members. Membership is diverse and comprises — golf tour operators; golf resorts; golf courses; hotels and resorts; receptive operators; airlines; transport service; food and beverages operators; and business partners in Johor.
It also provides a membership forum for the collection, distribution and exchange of essential information relevant to the Johor golf tourism industry and acts as a bridge connecting players with the industry bodies, as well as relevant authorities.
Members are able to use the association as a professional platform to speak and act as a unified body, which enables the golf network to be actively involved in the various aspects of the golf tourism industry as a business and secure long-term interest in Johor.
One of the aims of the JGTA is to organise the Johor golf industry to set high standards of service, conduct and ethics, guidelines and performance that will help raise standards in order to deliver the best possible experience to golf travellers.
The JGTA also coordinates programmes and activities to establish and increase a higher level of awareness, appreciation and understanding of Johor as the ultimate golf destination among golf travellers, locally and internationally.
The bigger picture will result in these efforts creating a ripple effect, increasing the level of employment, not only in the golf industry, but
the entire tourism and hospitality industry in Johor — all through the development of golf tourism. — Courtesy of Golf Malaysia
