IN CELEBRATION of the blessed month of Ramadhan, Kota Permai Golf & Country Club (KPGCC) hosted a special Majlis Berbuka Puasa for some 35 underprivileged children from the Pusat Jagaan Nur Barakah at the club’s newly-debuted Permai Lounge, as part of the club’s annual corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri festive season.
The children — aged between two and 12 years old — are either orphans, or from very poor families, were accompanied by their caretakers. Also invited for the event were Malaysia’s golf media personnel, members of the club’s golf, social and liaison committees and the club’s management team.
Upon arrival of the chartered bus, the children were given a warm welcome by the management team, staff and committee members before being ushered to the Ramadhan buffet venue, where some of the kids went on-stage to give a special nasyid performance.
Following the customary recitation of doa before breaking fast, the evening saw everyone indulge in the huge Ramadhan buffet spread — comprising a variety of traditional delights, crowd favourites and delicious offerings from various “live” cooking stalls — with highlights being the kambing panggang and apam balik istana.
In addition to the scrumptious spread, the kids were presented duit raya and goodie bags by the management and committee members, before being treated to a magic show and Raya songs sung by the club’s staff. The duit raya was derived from the club’s CSR funds, as well as personal contributions from the club’s management and committee members, and each child also received goodie bags containing a myriad of treats to provide them with some Raya joy. In addition, the home was also presented with daily necessity items, stationery, KDK ceiling fans, plus Raya cookies and decorations, as well as buah kurma to help ease their burden in preparing for the upcoming Aidilfitri celebrations.
“We want them to experience a fun and memorable event with us today, and a have a good Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration in a few weeks time. Besides the treat we have in store for them today, we have also prepared a lot of other goodies for them to enjoy their Hari Raya,” said Tang Meng Loon, director of club, township and property management on the charity initiative during the event, which has become part of the club’s activities since 2008.
“Our CSR is even more special this year as we are able to host everyone at our new Permai Lounge, with a wonderful spread by our new catering partner — HNF Catering, which is led by Mr James. We are only four days into our 2019 buffet, and already, we are receiving very positive reviews and feedback from all who have sampled it,” continued Tang, on the amped-up Ramadhan experience this year with the change of location to the cosy, air-conditioned, Permai Lounge and the club’s new food and beverages operations.
The night ended with a group photo, before a big cheery send-off, which saw wide smiles on the faces of all present, especially the children’s.
