Duopharma Biotech Bhd (formerly known as CCM Duopharma Biotech Bhd) is open into exploring new markets to increase its export sales and expand international footprints.
Its group MD Leonard Ariff Abdul Shatar said much of the effort are being spent to upgrade existing dossiers to meet standards that will be more applicable across multiple countries.
“We are exploring other markets but it is a bit of chicken and egg because you have various regulatory authorities.
“Each country has its own regulatory authority and sometimes they implement their own specific requirements that are not common,” he told reporters after the company’s 18th AGM in Setia Alam earlier today.
Leonard Ariff added that Duopharma Biotech has penetrated four new markets with export sales to all other ASEAN countries growing 23% year-on-year.
“To fast track our Asean expansion, we seek to collaborate with other pharmaceutical companies in the region. We have also penetrated four new export markets- Ghana, South Africa, Oman and Qatar.
“As the regulatory environment in the international market becomes more stringent, we have embarked on a project to upgrade the dossier quality of Duopharma Biotech’s existing and new products,” he added.
“What we’re hoping for is more harmonisation in terms of regulations within the Asean countries so that one dossier can be registered across all countries,” he said.
