Salcon bags Langat 2 WTP job


Salcon Bhd has secured a maintenance work for Langat 2 Water Treatment Plant (WTP)worth RM39.8 million from Pengurusan Aset Air Bhd (PAAB).

In a statement yesterday, the firm said the contract was awarded to its wholly owned subsidiary, Salcon Engineering Bhd, and that the project is expected to be completed on May 15, 2020.

“Salcon Engineering has been awarded the Package 15(4), which include connecting work of the existing pipe system and installation of mild steel pipe,” the statement read.

The project includes the installation of mild steel pipes at Langat 2 and Water Reticulation System in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.

Salcon COO Ooi Cheng Swee said in addition to the project at Langat 2, Salcon has secured a contract for the Telibong 2 WTP amounted to RM124 million last month.

He added that both projects are expected to increase Salcon’s orderbook to RM510 million, in addition to the current tendered project worth RM1.8 billion.

“These projects are expected to contribute positively to the earnings of the group. Currently, the group has tendered water and wastewater projects, both locally and overseas in Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam,” he said.

At the closing yesterday, Salcon’s share price remained flat at 28 sen with a market capitalisation of RM237.19 million.
