The Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry (MoA) plans to create exciting tourism packages in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (Motac) to attract more Chinese tourists to Malaysia.

MoA Minister Datuk Salahuddin Ayub (picture) said the tour packages will include trips to enjoy the Musang King durian.

“I have spoken with Motac Minister Datuk Mohamaddin Ketapi that both ministries should work together and carry out a massive campaign for attracting Chinese tourists to Malaysia, and we know they like to eat Musang King,” he said when opening the Kalabakan Farmers’ Organisation worth more than RM1.6 million in Kampung Merotai Besar in Tawau yesterday.

Meanwhile, Salahuddin welcomes the efforts of Sabah’s Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry to plant Musang King trees on 5,000ha of land in Tawau.

He said his ministry will also help in terms of supplying seeds for the Musang King and other varieties of durians, as well as exporting the produce to China.

Last year, Malaysia succeeded in sealing an export protocol with China for frozen whole fruit durians. — Bernama
