Gamuda Industrial Building System Sdn Bhd, FM Global Logistics (M) Sdn Bhd and Mdcon 6 Sdn Bhd were shining stars at the recent Selangor Investors Appreciation Awards.
They emerged as the top local companies for the highest investment in Selangor for 2017 and 2018.
The awards for the highest investment by foreign companies in Selangor for the same period went to Best Eternity Recycle Technology Sdn Bhd, Vinda Malaysia Sdn Bhd and IKEA Supply (M) Sdn Bhd.
The award is based on Malaysian Investment Development Authority (Mida)-approved manufacturing projects in Selangor for 2017 and the first nine months of 2018.
The event, organised by Invest Selangor Bhd in collaboration with Kelab Rekreasi Invest Selangor, was attended by Selangor Mentri Besar Amirudin Shari. Also present were Selangor state government senior executive councillor Datuk Teng Chang Khim and Invest Selangor CEO Datuk Hasan Azhari Idris.
First introduced in 1999, the award is held once every two years to acknowledge the contribution of investors.
With almost 20 years under its belt, Invest Selangor has assisted the state to attract more than 7,600 manufacturing projects which have created more than 380,000 job opportunities.
The projects have an accumulated RM191.67 billion worth of investments, according to an Invest Selangor statement.
In 2017, Selangor contributed RM270 billion worth of GDP, which accounted for 23% of the nation’s GDP.
In 2018, the initial target was RM7 billion, but the state had managed to attract RM8.25 billion as at September 2018, as per the Mida figures for the manufacturing sector in Selangor. — TMR
