Perodua delivers over 100,000 3rd Gen Myvis

Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd’s (Perodua) has delivered over 100,000 3rd gen Myvis since its launch in Nov 2017. Orders for the third-generation Myvi have reached a cumulative 150,000, with an average delivery of over 1,560 units a week, Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd MD Datuk Dr Zahari Husin said in a statement yesterday. “The Perodua Myvi is by far the most successful model in our history. The original Myvi launched in 2005 into a market then dominated by sedans. By 2013 it had overtaken the Kancil’s all-time sales (708,000 units from 1994 to 2009) and to date, we have sold nearly 1.1 million Myvis altogether,” he said. Perodua sold a record 227,243 cars last year and has sold nearly 3.5 million cars since 1994.

 

Lazada Malaysia appoints Leo Chow as new CEO

Leo Chow has been appointed CEO of Lazada Malaysia since January, succeeding Christophe Lejeune. Lazada Malaysia in a statement yesterday said Chow will lead the strategic development and growth of Lazada in Malaysia. It added Lejeune remains a part of the Lazada family. Chow has been with Lazada Malaysia since 2018 as the regional executive VP, a role which saw him responsible to develop and implement regional category and assortment strategies and manage traffic policies on marketing platforms. He spent eight years at Taobao, where he was responsible for Taobao Global Platform and introduced a new model of cross-border business based on social eCommerce, and held category management roles. Chow was also part of the team that facilitated Alibaba’s investment and integration of Lazada.

 

SC chairman elected as IOSCO GEM vice chair

Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) chairman Datuk Syed Zaid Albar has been elected as the International Organisation of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) Growth and Emerging Markets (GEM) Committee vice chair. As vice chair of the GEM committee, Syed Zaid will be a member of the IOSCO Board, the governing and standard-setting body of IOSCO, besides co-chairs the IOSCO GEM committee working group on sustainability in emerging markets. .

 

Velesto unit receives contract extension from Hess

Velesto Energy Bhd’s unit, Velesto Drilling Sdn Bhd, has received a contract extension from Hess Exploration and Production Malaysia B.V. for the provision of a high pressure high temperature jack-up drilling rig and services for deployment in the North Malay Basin offshore Malaysia. Velesto will assign the NAGA 8 rig for this contract, it noted in an exchange filing yesterday. The contract is for a duration of 18 months with an option for further extension and is estimated to value US$38 million (RM154.93 million), with mobilisation commencing in second quarter of 2018.

 

Kerjaya bags RM280m contract in Subang Jaya

Kerjaya Prospek Group Bhd’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Kerjaya Prospek (M) Sdn Bhd, has accepted a contract from HCK Builders Sdn Bhd for the construction of main building for a proposed development project located in Subang Jaya, Selangor, for a contract value of RM280 million. The contract covers the construction of the main building of the proposed project of four towers on three-storey podium comprising retail units, offices, common area and facilities with four level of basement car park. Work shall commence on Apr l, 2019, and to be completed within 28 months. The award takes Kerjaya’s total contract wins for 2019 to RM435 million and takes it outstanding order book value to RM3.3 billion,it noted in a statement yesterday.
