Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd’s (MAHB) network of airports, including Istanbul’s Sabiha Gokcen International Airport, reported a 3.1% year-on-year (YoY) growth of passenger movements in January with 11.1 million passengers recorded.
The international sector recorded 5.4 million passengers with a 2.5% YoY increase, while the domestic sector recorded 5.7 million passengers with a 3.6% YoY growth versus the same period last year.
“The 11.1 million passenger movements in January 2019 is above the general norm for MAHB’s network of airports, considering January is generally a low travelling month,” MAHB said in a statement yesterday.
“Such performance was only recorded during the peak season months in 2018,” it added.
Meanwhile, the Kuala Lumpur International Airport handled 5.1 million passengers in January 2019, slightly higher than the same month last year.
Its domestic passenger movements increased by 5%, while international passenger movements declined by 1.5%.
