Pestech International Bhd’s wholly owned subsidiary, Pestech Sdn Bhd’s, joint venture with Pembinaan Tajri Sdn Bhd has received a contract from Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) to provide a double-circuit 275kV XLPE (cross-link polyethylene) underground cable from the main substation (PMU) Prince Court in Kuala Lumpur to PMU Ampang at a total contract amount of RM112.5 million.
The scope of work includes to design, manufacture, supply, erect and commission the 275kV double-circuit cable from PMU Ampang to the proposed PMU Prince Court.
The cable route will run through central of Kuala Lumpur from Prince Court area to Jalan Taman U-Thant and connect to Jalan Ampang towards the Jelatek area.
The cable system is to deliver a minimum of 500MVA power for each 275kV cable circuit under the project; considering full-load operation of all cable circuits inclusive of the neighbourhood power cable systems.
The duration of the project is 730 days from the commencement date, Pestech noted in its exchange filing last Thursday.
Pestech has also received an award from TNB for the establishment of PMU 500/275kV at Junjung (3×1,050MVA) in Kedah at a total contract amount of RM168.39 million.
It noted that as the Northern area of Peninsular Malaysia is expected to suffer from a power deficit due to plant retirement in a few years’ time, the establishment of PMU Junjung 500/275kV with a total power capacity of 3,150MVA and energisation of the Ayer Tawar-Junjung lines at 500kV are required to facilitate heavy power transfer from Perak to Prai area through several transformers and lines to the northern region.
The reinforcement will strengthen the grid network and improve security of supply in the future.
The duration of the project is 912 days from the commencement date. — TMR
