Car sharing application, SOCAR has expanded its service to Penang with the expansion of its fleet to 1,060 cars comprising 15 makes to choose from.
The South Korea-based service provider marks its first anniversary of launching in Malaysia this month with having 30 car in Penang located in 21 zones through the island and mainland.
One-way drives are available to users who wish to travel from Kuala Lumpur to Penang for business or a weekend getaway.
The presence in Penang will take SOCAR’s footprint to over 500 zones in addition to its operations in the Klang Valley and Johor Baru.
“In 2018 we saw the adoption and growth of car sharing in the country. This year we are looking towards rapid expansion. We have invested in more car models to suit different preferences and needs. Expansion to other cities is in the pipeline,” SOCAR Malaysia CEO Leon Foong said last week in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
He added that the company intends to grow its fleet to about 2,500 cars over the next 12 months.
All cars on its platform are keyless and prices are inclusive of petrol and insurance (comprehensive and personal accident coverage). — TMR
