Ferry services to Langkawi from Kuala Kedah and Kuala Perlis will be operating as usual even though the popular resort island is expected to be affected by tropical storm Pabuk, tomorrow.
Ferry Line Ventures Sdn Bhd operations manager Capt Baharin Baharom told Bernama that so far there had been no instructions from the Marine Department to halt operations and that all ferries would continue to ply their routes as scheduled.
“We are constantly in touch with the Marine Department and if we are instructed to temporarily halt services, we will do so because safety of our passengers is paramount,” he said.
The company operates 40 ferries. The latest information on the ferry services can be obtained at its website at http://www.langkawiferryline.com.
Based on the latest meteorological information, Pabuk is moving northwest in the Gulf of Siam and is expected to pass Langkawi at about 2pm tomorrow.
There has been mass evacuations of tourists in Thailand’s popular tourist islands in the Gulf of Siam for safety reasons. The storm is not expected to develop into a full-scale typhoon
