Four Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) senior officers, who were named in the recent police reports filed by management, have gone on garden leave.
The pilgrim fund confirmed that COO Datuk Adi Azuan Abdul Ghani, CFO Datuk Rozaida Omar, legal advisor Hazlina Mohd Khalid and senior GM for corporate services and real estate Rifina Md Ariff are on garden leave.
“In response to your question, on the status of the senior management named in the police reports lodged last Friday (Nov 30), we would like to inform that they have gone on garden leave,” TH said in a statement to The Malaysian Reserve yesterday.
The fund did not provide further details. None of the four senior officers on garden leave have been charged for any offences or crimes related to the police reports.
Rozaida recently resigned as director at Bursa Malaysia-listed TH Heavy Engineering Bhd (THHE) and Pelikan International Corp Bhd, citing her desire to focus on her other personal commitments.
The haj pilgrim fund lodged two reports with the Commercial Crime Investigation Department at the end of last month, implicating former chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim, former CEOs Tan Sri Ismee Ismail and Datuk Seri Johan Abdullah, besides the four current top officers.
The first report alleged that RM22 million from Yayasan Tabung Haji (YTH) — a foundation for the underprivileged formed in 2016 — meant for programmes in 2017 were disbursed for politically-linked activities.
“This contravenes the Memorandum and Articles of Association of YTH,” TH said in a statement. Abdul Azeez, Ismee, Johan, Adi Azuan and Rozaida were the trustees of YTH at that time.
The second report was related to the misrepresentations and the withholding of material information involving TH’s 2012 sale of a 95% stake in PT TH Indo Plantations held by its subsidiaries TH Indopalms Sdn Bhd and TH Indo Industries Sdn Bhd.
The 95% stake was sold to PT Borneo Pacific for US$910 million (RM3.79 billion). TH Indo Plantations owns a total of 83,000ha of palm oil estates in Indonesia.
The reports were lodged following internal investigations into past transactions, spearheaded by the new management since July 2018.
