Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) recorded 10.7 million passenger movements for all its airports in October 2018, a slight increase compared to a year ago.
The country’s largest airport operator said international travellers rose 2.2% to 5.1 million, but domestic traffic dropped by 1% to 5.6 million passengers compared to a year ago.
On a last-12-month basis, MAHB’s airports including the Sabiha Gokcen International Airport in Istanbul, grew by 4.4%, recording 132.3 million passengers, the highest passenger volume handled to date.
Overall, aircraft movements increased by 4.1%, where international and domestic aircraft movements rose by 3.3% and 4.6% respectively.
Airports in Malaysia registered a 1.3% decline year-on year with 7.8 million passengers. The international sector recorded four million passenger movements with a decline of 0.8%, while the domestic sector recorded a 1.8% decline with 3.8 million passengers.
Overall, aircraft movements for local airports increased by 3.3%.
The Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) registered 4.7 million passengers in October 2018, a decline of 2.3% over October 2017. International passenger movements declined by 2.7%, while domestic passenger movements decreased by 1.5% over October 2017.
Overall, aircraft movements at KLIA increased by 1.1% over the same month last year.
