Retirement Fund Inc (KWAP) has appointed Syed Hamadah Othman (picture) as its new CEO, succeeding Datuk Wan Kamaruzaman Wan Ahmad who tendered his resignation recently.
KWAP said in a statement that Syed Hamadah’s appointment came into effect yesterday.
“KWAP wishes to record its thanks and appreciation to the former CEO for his service and contribution to KWAP, its beneficiaries and the nation at large throughout his tenure since he joined the organisation on May 2, 2013,” the statement read.
It stated that Wan Kamaruzaman had made a significant contribution to the transformation and growth of KWAP with momentous changes that had driven growth.
“The organisation remains steadfast throughout this transition in delivering its mandate to ensure the responsibilities towards the nation and the beneficiaries would be fulfilled,” the pension fund stated.
Syed Hamadah is one of the leading practitioners in pension and social security space in the country.
He was previously a director at Actuarial Partners Consulting Sdn Bhd and during his tenure at the firm, he led the pension business and specialised in consulting on issues including pension funding and accounting, mergers and acquisitions, pension scheme design, pension reform and training.
Syed Hamadah was also part of the consulting team on the review of pension, social security and healthcare system in Malaysia. He also worked on benefit reviews and designs of major pension schemes in Malaysia and abroad.
