AirAsia X Bhd has appointed Nadda Buranasiri as the group CEO, replacing Datuk Kamarudin Meranun and Tan Sri Anthony Francis Fernandes, who were both redesignated to non-executive director.
In an exchange filing yesterday, the low cost long-haul division of AirAsia noted the designation for both Kamarudin and Fernandes took effect on Nov 1, 2018. Buranasiri, a Thai national, was responsible in setting up Thailand’s first low-cost long-haul airline, Thai AirAsia X Co Ltd, and was appointed CEO in January 2014.
“His leadership brought the company to be profitable within three years of its operations which will be a contributing attribute to his role as the group CEO of AirAsia X,” the filing noted. Buranasiri began his career with Siam Cement Co Ltd in 1987 and later moved to join the porcelain industry.
He was appointed as MD of Universal Music Ltd and helped set up their operations till the company became the market leader in Thailand. He was appointed then MD of Warner Music Thailand Ltd in 2007.
