DESA PARK CITY – It was a night of magical and acrobatic bravado as over 680 underprivileged children were treated to an energetic, adrenalin pumping show under the big top of the Swiss Dream Circus. The event, organised by Rotary Club of Kuala Lumpur DiRaja (RCKL DiRaja) with Malaysia Airports as a proud platinum sponsor saw audiences at the edge of their seats, watching the precise stunts and aerial acts performed by talented and world-renowned circus artists.
As a platinum sponsor, Malaysia Airports committed RM40,000 to RCKL DiRaja in aid of this meaningful event, aimed at bringing a touch of magic to the lives of underprivileged children, many of whom have never had the opportunity before to watch a circus performance.
The event, themed ‘Inspire a Child’ indeed lived up to its promise as the faces of the children filled with awe and wonder, as they watched the magic unfold before them in the form of amazing acrobatic feats and thrilling stunts.
“When Malaysia Airports was first approached to collaborate in this commendable event by RCKL DiRaja, we did not hesitate to extend our support,” said Malaysia Airports acting group CEO, Raja Azmi Raja Nazuddin. “Our corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts, especially under the Education and Youth Leadership pillar, apart from elevating academic performance has also always been about inspiring children to reach for the stars in achieving their dreams. Watching these amazing circus performances, skillful acts perfected from hard work, practice and discipline has indeed brought inspiration and drive to the children to put in the necessary perseverance and dedication to achieve their hearts’ desire,” he added.
“After all, this is what matters at the end of the day – giving children the opportunity to experience happiness and showing them that dreams can come true. We thank RCKL DiRaja for giving us this opportunity to be part of such a meaningful event,” he further added.
Raja Azmi also mentioned that more than 140 students from Malaysia Airports’ adopted schools under its flagship CSR programme called Beyond Borders were also invited to attend the event. He related how excited the students upon learning that they were going to watch the circus. He also shared how meaningful it was to see the joy on these children’s faces knowing that their hard work and perseverance were rewarded not only with good academic grades, but also with joyful memories.
