Kenanga Investors is Transparency Champion

Kenanga Investors Berhad and Kenanga Islamic Investors Berhad win under Transparency Award category at MARC 2017 League Manager Lead Table Awards.

Kuala Lumpur, 24 September 2018: Kenanga Investors Group, comprising of Kenanga Investors Berhad (“KIB”) and Kenanga Islamic Investors Berhad (“KIIB”) was the inaugural winner of the Transparency Awards at the Malaysian Rating Corporation Berhad’s (“MARC) MARC 2017 League Managers Lead Table Awards which was held here recently. MARC’s Transparency Awards are given to financial service organisations in the rating universe of MARC that lead the way in accountability and transparency best practices in their sector. Areas that are assessed during the selection process include an organisation’s risk management and internal control, financial management, processes and infrastructure. This was a new category introduced this year for local fund managers. Kenanga Investors Group was awarded for its contribution to advancing transparency in the field of asset management.

“To be recognised as a transparent and responsible asset management organisation is a great achievement for us as a fund manager especially in current times. This also further adds on to when both KIB and KIIB were reaffirmed investment manager ratings of IMR-2 earlier in the year,” says Ismitz Matthew De Alwis, Executive Director/ Chief Executive Officer of Kenanga Investors Berhad.

Both firms are pioneers in obtaining investment manager ratings from MARC, voluntary ratings that evaluate the quality of an investment or fund management firms and its vulnerability to financial and operational failure. Investment managers who fall within the IMR-2 category are defined as those who exhibit very good investment processes and risk management practices relative to the size and complexity of its investment management activities. The ratings reflect their well-established investment processes, sound risk management and strong operating records.

MARC is one of Malaysia’s two domestic credit rating institutions. Commencing operations in 1996, its rating coverage extends to Corporate Finance, including Financial Institutions and Insurance, Structured Finance, Public Finance, and Infrastructure and Project Finance.
