Canon Marketing (M) Sdn Bhd is optimistic that the introduction of its new mirrorless EOS R System will increase its market share.
The new EOS R System features the first EOS R full-frame mirrorless camera, four dedicated RF lenses and three types of RF mount adapters, along with a battery grip.
Canon Marketing president and CEO Andrew Koh said the group has been aggressively bringing in a certain amount of units for the Malaysian market and are confident that the new EOS R System will hit the company’s set of objectives.
“We are not just launching a new camera, but an entire new camera system which I believe will last us for the next 30 years,” he said.
Koh said Malaysia is one of the key markets in South-East Asia for the new range of Canon’s system.
With regard to the reduction of the Sales and Services Tax (SST) rate from 10% to 5% on camera equipment, Koh said he is thankful as it would not only help to push up the sale of the cameras, but also the entire photography industry.
“We are here to promote photography and with the reduction of SST on camera equipment, it will enable and encourage more people to pick up photography,” he said.
The new released Canon EOS R full-frame mirrorless camera also comes with a 30.3MP full-frame sensor paired with a DIGIC 8 image processor. It is also built with Canon’s dual pixel autofocus points.
It will retail at RM9,888 (body only) and RM14,688 (body + 24mm-105mm kit lens).
