The Faculty of Language and Communication of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Thaksin University, Thailand, at a simple signing ceremony at Rumah Universiti in Kota Samarahan yesterday.
The MoU document was signed by UNIMAS vice chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi (picture) and Thaksin University’s research, academic services and international affairs VP Dr U-Krisdh Musicpunth.
In his welcoming speech, Mohamad Kadim said academic and research collaboration between the two universities will help to elevate the level of expertise among researchers and academicians.
He added that the MoU would also benefit the students as it would give them the opportunity to enrich their knowledge and experience by participating in future programmes organised by both parties.
“Academic institutions are not spared from stiff competition, especially when university ranking is concerned. Thus, collaborating with potential partners is one of the strategies that can help us to stay relevant and survive in this competitive world that demands only the best in everything that we do,” Mohamad Kadim said.
He added that the signing of the MoU would help to create a new breed of trans-boundary working culture that will contribute to innovation and knowledge creation among academicians, researchers and students. — Bernama
