Karex Bhd, the innovative condom producer, introduces its third Malaysian delicacies-inspired limited edition condom flavoured “Smooth Frothy Teh Tarik”, following the success of its durian line, which was released in 2016 and the nasi lemak panas line released a year later.

The condoms are Karex’s thinnest range that comes “kurang manis” (less sweet) yet smooth with extra lubrication, deserving of its namesake.

According to one Karex official, starting Sept 4, the limited edition Teh Tarik condom line will be available and sold at all myNEWS.com stores and soon, it will be available in every leading retail pharmaceutical outlets.

The spokesperson said the aim of this line is to promote safe sex among Malaysians, while making it more appealing. It also makes condoms appear more casual and less of a taboo.

“It was an easy choice. Teh Tarik is a local favourite that brings Malaysians closer. No mamak session is ever complete without a glass of hot Teh Tarik,” the spokesperson told The Malaysian Reserve.

Manufactured under Karex’s original brand manufacturer, ONE, the limited edition Teh Tarik-flavoured condom is expected to be available in the market for about three months — while stocks last.

Karex’s net profit for the fourth quarter ended June 30, 2018, fell 49.8% to RM1.46 million from RM2.9 million recorded in the same quarter a year ago due to rising production costs.

Revenue improved 1.95% year-onyear to RM93.4 million on higher volume of condom sales, particularly from the sexual wellness and medical segments.

For the fiscal year of 2018 (FY18), the condom maker’s net profit plunged 63.85% to RM10.1 million against RM27.95 million registered in FY17.

The new line is released in conjunction with the National Day on Aug 31 and Malaysia Day on Sept 16.
