Raja Zarith Sofiah to speak at 28th TAR Lecture


The Permaisuri of Johor Raja Zarith Sofiah Sultan Idris Shah (picture) will be speaking at the 28th Tunku Abdul Rahman (TAR) Lecture series in Kuala Lumpur tonight.

Her experience and insights as an academician, columnist and philanthropist will give a fresh perspective to the attendees of the prestigious event.

The TAR Lecture series, inaugurated by the Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM) in 1970, is held to commemorate the premiership of Malaysia’s first Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman.

The event showcases exemplary leadership insights and wisdom from leaders of all walks of life.

The TAR Lecture series is regarded by many as a platform of fostering thought leadership and curates only the best minds to inspire successful management through their well-rounded perspectives and experiences.

The speakers, who have delivered 27 lectures, embody the essence of meaningful leadership and have displayed excellent management skills. The event will also see the conferment of the prestigious title of MIM Court of Emeritus Fellows to four notable MIM members.

They are Genting Bhd chairman and CEO Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay; Sunway Group founder and chairman Tan Sri Dr Jeffrey Cheah; Asian Pac Holdings Bhd chairman and SEG International Bhd chairman Tan Sri Megat Najmuddin Megat Khas; as well as PT Siemens Indonesia president director and CEO Prakash Chandran.

According to MIM, the title “Emeritus Fellow” is granted to individuals of eminence in the field of management by the institute’s Court of Emeritus Fellows.

The MIM was established as the professional National Management Organisation of Malaysia in 1966 and has since trained an estimated 100,000 managers and executives in Malaysia.

It continues to assist organisations in their strategic management development strategy through professional membership, continuous professional management development and corporate training programmes.
