Nova MSC wins China’s BIM services contract

Nova MSC Bhd won a RM1.7 million contract from Chinese property developer Shenzhen Qianhai HengChang Technology Development Co Ltd to provide building information modelling (BIM) and engineering audit services.

The software company secured the award via its wholly owned unit novaCITYNETS Pte Ltd and will provide the services for a property project located in Shenzhen Qianhai, measuring 14,950 sq m in total land area and 199,724 sq m in total construction area.

NovaCITYNETS CEO Raymond Tan said the Chinese government has been pushing for BIM adoption in China with the aim of achieving a 90% adoption rate by 2020.

The adoption of BIM in China is further expected to boost demand for Nova MSC’s FORNAX ePlanCheck system in the future — an automated system that checks for non-compliance with regulatory requirements.

This is aimed at reducing costs and upping productivity compared to checking for non-compliance manually.

The RM1.7 million contract, which will be Nova MSC’s first project in China, will be over an 18-month period. — TMR
