SERBA Dinamik Holdings Bhd has inked a memorandum of understanding with Microsoft Digital Advisory Services to create a digital platform as part of the listed company’s commitment in digital transformation.
Serba Dinamik group MD and group CEO Datuk Dr Mohd Abdul Karim Abdullah said the company is expected to finalise the proof of concept (PoC) for the initiative by year-end.
He said the partnership will be delivered throughout three stages: Discovery, design and deliver.
It will also be tested on the group’s subsidiary PT Serba Dinamik Indonesia plant, by reviewing the plant turnaround management and routine maintenance management at the operations and maintenance facility.
“We hope to come out with the PoC which will be implemented on our plant in Indonesia by the end of the year, after that, the plant will become the model for us to promote to customers that want this concept to be used in their maintenance management.
“We will be spending around RM2 million for the PoC since we will be using internal expertise and assets. If we get a third party to do it, the cost can easily go up to a figure of RM10 million,” he told reporters at the signing ceremony in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
The pilot study will allow Microsoft to establish the first iteration of the digital transformat ion plan and digital innovation framework as Serba Dinamik’s first target model and intent to replicate to other parts of the group.
Mohd Abdul Karim said the company has also targeted to introduce the system as a commercial package to its existing customers by the first quarter of next year.
He also said there will be quite a number of educational drive that Serba Dinamik will execute in the remaining four months, not only in Malaysia, but Indonesia, Middle East and the African continents.
“Some African continents want the training to be conducted in mass, with around 30 people in one class. It is because if they come in a group to Malaysia, they will be facing issues on Visa, among others,” he added.
He also said through the digital transformation, Serba Dinamik can enhance its productivity and cost-effectiveness, as well as reduce the down time of machinery, which will ultimately benefit not only the company, but will also allow faster delivery for its clients as well.
He added that the adoption of Industry 4.0 into the operations of Serba Dinamik’s group of companies will enable the group to obtain more contracts in the near future.
