The search for the best amateur golfer continues with the 21st edition of the Prudential Astro Masters kicking off on Aug 1 at Tropicana Golf and Country Club
As the longest and most successful national amateur golf series in Malaysia, it offers golfers a platform to display their talent as they vie for the berths in the grand final in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, along with the chance to win prizes worth over RM300,000.
To participate, Astro customers are entitled to a special registration fee of RM350, while non-Astro customers can register at RM450, which is inclusive of breakfast, lunch and a goodie bag worth RM350.
Participants interested in playing this stroke play tournament can find the entry forms by logging on to www.tfcmgolf.com. The series will comprise 10 qualifying rounds across five states, and five of the golf courses are among the top 10 in the country.
The overall gross and nett winners who qualify from each round in the Prudential Astro Masters 2018 series will proceed to the grand final from Nov 15-17, at Grand Phnom Penh Golf Club and Garden City Golf Club in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, where they will challenge for the right to be crowned “The Prudential Astro Masters Champion Golfer of the Year”.
At each venue of the series, a hole-in-one prize of a golf tour package for two people, including flight, accommodation and a round of golf at St Andrews, worth over RM30,000 — and a Sure-To-Win hole-in-one prize of a 65-inch Panasonic LED full high-definition television (HDTV) — will be up for grabs.
Speaking at the launch of the tournament, P Jeganathan, the organising chairman of the tournament, said: “This year’s tournament promises an even greater experience for participants, and we hope we can bring out talent that can represent Malaysia in the international golfing arena. Since the Prudential Astro Masters started 20 years ago, more than 50,000 golfers have participated, and as part of the 21st anniversary this year, for the first time, there will be a special par-3 hole-in-one prize of a golf tour package for two to play the old course at St Andrews worth over RM30,000 by Bestour Travel. It is also the first time the grand final will be played over two of the best golf courses in Cambodia, which will be exciting for the golfers.
“Special thanks goes to Prudential Assurance Malaysia Bhd chief customer and marketing officer Eric Wong, chief branding officer Fiona Liao and their team, for their continued support and invaluable commitment to the tournament as they mark their 10th anniversary with the event, as well as to all our other supporting sponsors that make the event possible.”
