Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) has appointed Datuk John Chong Eng Chuan as the new group CEO of its Community Financial Services (CFS), effective July 18, 2018.

In a statement yesterday, Maybank said Chong, who is currently the CEO of Maybank Investment Bank Bhd (Maybank IB) and Maybank Kim Eng Group (MKE), would take over from Datuk Lim Hong Tat, who would retire from the bank effective the same day.

“Maybank is currently in the process of identifying suitable successor candidates for the CEO role in Maybank IB and MKE, and Chong will continue to lead Maybank IB and MKE until further advised,” it said.

It added that an announcement would be made in due course once necessary regulatory approvals have been secured.

Chong joined Maybank IB (formerly known as Aseam-bankers Malaysia Bhd) as an officer in the banking department in March 1993 and has 25 years of experience in investment banking with the group. — Bernama
