Elderly voter dies after collapsing at polling station in PJ

A 78-year-old man collapsed and died while queueing up to cast his ballot at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (P) Taman Petaling here in the general election today, according to police.

The man, who arrived at the polling station with his family at 9.30 am, collapsed while standing in the queue at Stream 1, said  Petaling Jaya District Police chief ACP Mohd Zani Che Din.

He said the man was pronounced dead by a medical assistant from the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre.

”According to a family member, the man had medical problems associated with the heart and lungs and had suffered from diabetes as well,” he said.
