LONG-HAUL budget airline AirAsia X Bhd recently signed a new agreement with Safran Landing Systems Services Singapore Pte Ltd (SLSS) for a maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) service contract.
According to a statement by AirAsia X, the contract encompasses the complete overhaul and repair services of 24 landing gears of Airbus A330 aircraft.
The first scheduled services will be provided by SLSS in Singapore, which is expected to commence from this year until 2025.
SLSS is also currently commissioned to provide MRO services for landing gears of 32 Airbus A320 aircraft for the airline’s short-haul affiliate AirAsia Bhd.
As such, this newly signed contract will bring the total contracted aircraft with Air- Asia Group to 56.
AirAsia’s total passengers increased by 16% year-onyear to 10.65 million, which was attributed to the increased seat capacity, compared to 9.15 million recorded in the same period last year.
The total fleet size for the three operations grew to 123 aircraft, with 87 from Malaysia, 15 from Indonesia and 21 from the Philippines.
