Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua) has recorded 38,000 deliveries for its third-generation Myvi as of the third week of April, bringing its market share to 41.5%.
“Myvi has garnered 70,000 bookings from Nov 8, 2017, to April 30, 2018,” Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd MD Datuk Dr Zahari Husin noted in a statement yesterday.
According to Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) data, the compact carmaker sold 55,568 vehicles against a 135,140-unit total industry volume for the first three months of 2018. It has enabled Perodua to achieve an over 41% market share.
“The car sales grew 10.5% to 50,260 units registered in the first quarter of 2017, making it a record for Perodua in terms of sales,” it said in a statement.
Out of the 55,560 units registered, 24,473 units were Myvi, 14,962 units Axia, 10,101 units Bezza and 6,032 units Alza.
Zahari said the current waiting period for the 1.5L Myvi variants is a shade under three months, while the 1.3L variants can be delivered almost immediately. — TMR
