The multi-billion ringgit Kuala Lumpur (KL)-Singapore (SG) High-speed Rail (HSR) project has recently named Datuk Seri Azmi Abdul Aziz  (picture) as its new CEO.

The joint venture between Syarikat Pembenaan Yeoh Tiong Lay Sdn Bhd and TH Properties Sdn Bhd (YTL-THP) received a letter of intent from MyHSR Corp Sdn Bhd to serve as the project delivery partner for the southern portion of the KL-SG HSR project.

Azmi, who between 2015 and 2017 served as president and CEO of Prasarana Malaysia Bhd, has over 33 years of experience in both the public, as well as the private sector.

During his tenure as the chief development officer at the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD), Azmi was involved in the formulation of the National Land Public Transport Master Plan, as well as developing and setting up transport policies such as the Urban Rail Development Plan.

YTL-THP director Datuk Yeoh Seok Hong was pleased to welcome Azmi on board as his past experiences will add value to the YTL-THP management team.

“During his previous tenure at SPAD, he played a role in the planning stages of the KL-SG HSR project, so it will be comforting to know that he will oversee the actual construction process,” he said.
