Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) has appointed two assistant governors, Nazrul Hisyam Mohd Noh and Tan Nyat Chuan, with effect from May 1, 2018.
Nazrul Hisyam will act as the chief of staff and the secretary to the board of directors of the central bank.
He will also be responsible for the governor’s office, strategic communications and strategic management departments.
Prior to his appointment as chief staff in 2016, Nazrul Hisyam served the bank for nearly 20 years in various capacities, most recently as the international department director.
He holds a Master and Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Cambridge, UK.
Tan will be responsible for payment systems policy matters.
He will also serve in several capacities as a non-executive non-independent director on the board of directors of the Payments Network Malaysia Sdn Bhd, and a member of the bank’s financial stability committee and risk management committee.
Tan has over 30 years of work experience in the bank and previously served as the internal audit department director.
He holds an MBA from the Manchester Business School, UK and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Iowa, US.
