Bursa Malaysia ends morning session lower on profit-taking

Bursa Malaysia ended the morning session lower as investors continued to cash in on profits, with selling mainly seen in banking and telecommunication stocks.

At the midday break, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) slipped 9.76 points or 0.52% to 1,870.60 from yesterday’s close of 1,880.36.

The benchmark index moved between 1,885.32 and 1,868.35 throughout the morning, after having opened 3.39 points higher at 1,883.75.

On the broader market, losers outnumbered gainers 524 to 186, while 361 counters were unchanged, 843 were untraded and 28 others suspended.

Volume amounted to 1.01 billion units, valued at RM913.87 billion.

Top gainers included DiGi.Com Bhd (pic), Malayan Banking Bhd, AMMB Holdings Bhd and Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd.

Meanwhile, among the losers were Press Metal Aluminium Holdings Bhd, Sime Darby Bhd, Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd, Maxis Bhd, Axiata Group Bhd, Hong Leong Bank Bhd, RHB Bank Bhd, Genting Bhd, Public Bank Bhd and CIMB Group Holdings Bhd.
