Malaysia LNG Sdn Bhd (MLNG), a subsidiary of Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas), has inked a 13-year liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply deal with Tokyo Gas Co Ltd.

Under the agreement, MLNG will supply 500,000 tonnes of LNG per annum for the first six years commencing April 2018.

For the remaining period, the supply volume may increase up to 900,000 tonnes per annum. MLNG has been supplying LNG to Tokyo Gas for the past 35 years.

Tokyo Gas is the primary provider of natural gas to main cities in Japan, serving a population of more than 11 million predominantly in the Tokyo, metropolitan area and surrounding Kanto region.

MLNG operates an LNG complex in Bintulu, Sarawak, a nine-train facility which has a combined annual production capacity of about 30 million tonnes.

National oil company Petronas this year inked a sales and purchase agreement on Jan 24 with H-Energy Mideast DMCC, its first-term LNG deal to India.
