Bursa Malaysia was lower at mid-morning Wednesday due to mild selling in selected heavyweights, a dealer said.
At 11 am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,835.32, down 2.72 points from yesterday’s close of 1,838.04. It opened 0.08 of-a-point higher to 1,838.12.
Overall market breadth was slightly negative as losers led gainers 472 to 341, while 376 counters were unchanged, 717 untraded and 33 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 1.38 billion shares worth RM764.95 million.
The FBM Emas Index fell 19.56 points to 13,293.09, the FBMT 100 Index slipped 19.38 points to 12,956.93 and the FBM 70 declined 25.84 points to 16,765.79.
The FBM Emas Shariah Index erased 26.70 points to 13,715.62 and the FBM Ace decreased 36.01 points to 6,788.52.
Sector-wise, the Finance Index eased 6.25 points to 17,376.38, the Industrial Index inched down 17.15 points to 3,360.58 but the Plantation Index rose 14.70 points to 8,057.65.
Among heavyweights, Maybank was flat at RM9.89, Tenaga fell two points to RM15.84, Petronas Chemicals slipped four sen to RM7.99 while Public Bank rose two sen to RM20.98.
