AmBank to focus on priority banking

Launches its 7th Signature Priority Banking Centre at Bangunan AmBank Group in Jalan Raja Chulan as a one-stop centre catering to priority banking customers


AmBank (M) Bhd is focusing on its priority banking as part of its strategy in building a strong retail banking franchise, after witnessing the customer base in the segment grow more than 300% in less than a year.

AmBank retail banking MD Jade Lee said AmBank Signature Priority Banking’s customer base has grown to 64,313 customers as at October this year, from 13,301 customers in December last year.

“Out of 175 AmBank branches nationwide, at least 10 branches have a base of more than 1,000 priority customers,” Lee said in a statement yesterday.

“We realise that a strong and loyal customer database in the priority customer segment can increase the bank’s business and revenue. “Hence, our customer value proposition includes a full suite of wealth management products and portfolio tool to provide a differentiated investment strategy as well as to increase the customers’ asset under management,” she added.

AMMB Holdings Bhd group CEO Datuk Sulaiman Mohd Tahir said the bank is “witnessing a significant growth” in the number of priority customers as its customer base grows.

AmBank launched its latest Signature Priority Banking Centre at Bangunan AmBank Group in Jalan Raja Chulan, Kuala Lumpur, designed as a one-stop centre catering to priority banking customers of the bank.

“The opening of our seventh Signature Priority Banking Centre further demonstrates our commitment to serving our customers’ banking needs and bringing it to a new level of customer experience,” AmBank group chairman Tan Sri Azman Hashim said in the same statement.

The new centre will be equipped with teller tablets in line with the group’s digital journey, thus allowing paperless transactions that reduce overall turnaround time.

Mobile Application Terminal (MAT) usage will also be available at the centre, enabling customers to apply for auto loans and receive instant approval on their applications.

AmBank priority banking customers will be eligible for the AmStar account promotion — a specially designed current account that allows customers to earn up to 3.18% on their daily transaction account.

The promotion is open for all priority banking customers nationwide until Dec 31, 2017. Priority customers with an AmStar account are required to have an initial deposit of RM10,000 and maintain a monthly average balance of RM10,000 to receive RM88 in cashback.
