New loyalty point structure for Petronas Mesra cardholders

Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) Mesra cardholders will receive three points for every litre of fuel refill in the latest Petronas Dagangan Bhd (PetDag) loyalty point structure.

PetDag marketing for retail business head Abang Jimmy Abang Mordian said the revised structure is currently the highest value in the fuel retail market.

“For comparison, if you have bought 225 litres of fuel with the Mesra card, you’ll have accumulated a total of 675 points, which is equivalent to RM6.75 as opposed to 450 points or RM5 from other fuel retailers for the same fill-up,” he said at the launch in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

The new point structure applies to every type of fuel offered including Petronas Primax 95 and Primax 97 as well as Dynamic Diesel Euro 2 and Euro 5.

The new structure, he said, will provide greater savings for customers who are coping with daily expenses due to the higher cost of living.

The points can also be used to redeem fuel and items from the company’s petrol station.

“A sizeable segment of our customers use motorcycles and small cars that do not need as much fuel per refill, which is why we decided to triple the number of points they get to accumulate.

“We also have many reward programmes running all year long as initiatives made to meet our customers’ lifestyle needs, beyond our offerings at the station,” he said.

In conjunction with PetDag’s recent tie-up with Lazada Malaysia, the firm also offers Lazada gift cards that can be bought using Mesra points.

Abang Jimmy said the company’s retail business plans to leverage its partnership with e-retailers, while aggressively enhancing its development in the e-commerce segment.
