MRT Corp awards all SSP Line work packages

Kuala Lumpur December 20, 2016. A Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) train operates during the opening to the public of the MRT line at Sungai Buloh. The trains will run between Sungai Buloh and Semantan, for a total of 12 stations, as part of phase one of the MRT line. Phase two, or the Semantan-to-Kajang portion of the project, covering 19 stops, is expected to be launched in July 2017. Under Phase one, there are 120 feeder buses linking all 12 stations and covering 26 routes. The fare is capped at one Malaysian ringgit per trip. Once completed, the MRT line from Sungai Buloh to Kajang is expected to cover a distance of 51km with 31 stations.(Pic by Afif Abd Halim/TMR)

MASS Rapid Transit Corp Bhd (MRT Corp) has successfully awarded all work packages for the construction of elevated stations for the Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya (SSP) Line worth RM1.23 billion.

MRT Corp said in a statement that the work packages for six elevated stations were awarded during the One Stop Procurement Committee meetings held in September and October, chaired by the second finance minister.

“All station work packages of the project are nominated subcontracts of their corresponding viaduct packages,” it said.

MRT Corp CEO Datuk Seri Shahril Mokhtar said the successful tenderers were selected on the basis of the best-evaluated tender, where the tenders were evaluated on their technical, commercial, legal, financial and industrial collaboration programme evaluation.
