Maybank Singapore appoints new CEO

Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) group chief risk officer Dr John Lee Hin Hock has been appointed as CEO of Maybank Singapore effective Dec 1, 2017, while Gilbert Kohnke will replace him as group chief risk officer effective Nov 1, 2017.

Lee will take over from current Maybank Singapore CEO and group head of Maybank’s community financial services (CFS), Datuk Lim Hong Tat, who will return to Malaysia to fully focus on the role of CFS group head to drive and implement the group’s community banking strategy across all geographies.

In a statement yesterday, Maybank said Lee’s appointment includes single-captain ship responsibility for Maybank Singapore’s entire operations, as well as responsibility to lead Maybank Singapore in strengthening its position as a major financial services provider in Singapore.
